It’s o-fish-ally Friday and I like to stock the pond with different kinds of topics. Some of the topics might school you and increase your knowledge. Some will put a smile on your face to start off a reel-y good weekend. And others you may find too fishy to the taste, so feel free to catch & release.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
I was looking through some memorial day quotes and here a few that popped out to me.
“Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering.”- Theodore Roosevelt (Think ole’ Theo was a “being safe” at all costs king of guy?)
“No man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation.”- General Douglas MacArthur (Just an alert to some of you, that there are some historically, innoucuous topics that can’t be talked about on Facebook or Twitter today.)
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived.” —George S. Patton, United States Army General (The opening scene by George C. Scott in the movie Patton is still one of the greatest speech/scenes.)
For you history buffs, this is a great presentation by scholar and historian Victor Davis Hansen. It is mostly about Patton and also includes other great battle moments. (Watch here).
And speaking of heroes!
How about the off-duty border agent who got a text from his wife that there was an active shooter in her school. He was at the barber shop a few blocks away. He grabbed the barber’s rifle and proceeded to the school and take out the shooter! If you are following this trajic story you are seeing that this was probably not a random event and there are many layers unraveling. But even with such evil plans a hero emerges. (Story here)
Waylon is already doing his part to celebrate the weekend.
Waylon rubbing it in and blowing smoke in my eyes, bragging about what he has on the smoker. A hero in my book.
Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

Hebrews 13:15-16 KJV
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Victor Davis Hanson's remarks are indeed profound! ... it's kind of difficult to defeat barbarians by inviting them to tea!!?
